Phyllis J. Bechler, age 81 of Pigeon, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Born in Kingston on March 3, 1930, she was the daughter of Melvin and Jessie (Beacom) McInally.
Following her 1947 graduation from Kingston High School, she attended Bay City Business School, graduating in 1949, and worked as a secretary for Ford Tractor Dearborn prior to returning to the Thumb. On September 29, 1950, she and Roland W. Bechler were married in Kingston, and have celebrated 61 years of marriage. Phyllis and Roland owned and operated the Lamplighter Restaurant in Pigeon for 15 years. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Roland; sons, Douglas of Palo Alto, California and Philip of Pasadena, California; daughter, Julie (Shawn) Withers of Lansing; and two granddaughters, Kristen and Megan Withers.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with Rev. Gloria Haynes, pastor, officiating.
Memorials for Phyllis are suggested to Salem United Methodist Church or Courtney Manor.

VISITATION AT MEYERSIECK-BUSSEMA FUNERAL HOME, PIGEON:
Monday, December 19 1:00 – 8:00 p.m.

AND AT SALEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, PIGEON:
Tuesday, December 20 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.
